99 Ranch Market was celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2019.
We were approached to create a "mini-movie" commercial to convey the idea of "companionship."
As a foreigner myself, I believe that the "taste of home" is the best form of companionship. When I first came abroad to study, half of my luggage was filled with snacks and cup noodles from home—comfort food just in case.
Throughout different stages of life, the items you choose and the people you shop with at the supermarket change, but 99 Ranch always has your back. We aimed to create a relatable story for immigrants, one that communicates personal emotions.
We decided to produce a voice-over-driven commercial with cinematic visuals. We shot symmetrically and centered the overall art direction to highlight the colorful and neatly arranged products in the market.
